Designed to challenge S1 and S2 pupils, the following workshops help to develop problem solving, team work and communication skills in a fun, stimulating and educational way.
Please note:
Following a presenter led discussion about rocket science, pupils work in teams of 3 to design and build a rocket-powered K’NEX vehicle. Each team will test their vehicle, discuss and solve any problems encountered during testing, and then re-test. The workshop concludes with a whole class discussion about the most important factors in building a successful K’NEX rocket powered vehicle.
An active learning mathematical workshop that will challenge traditional attitudes towards maths. Travelling around the world with a partner, each pair of pupils will collect stamps in their passport from the countries they visit by solving a mathematical K'NEX conundrum from that country. Everyone is guaranteed to succeed, especially those that don't usually enjoy maths.
Active-learning without a doubt! Pupils will watch a short live science demonstration illustrating the scientific principles of gravity and forces, which will be discussed in relation to juggling. Then pupils will learn the basics of juggling using juggling bags by taking part in a series of short guided exercises.
This is an introductory workshop...continued practice will be required!
