A cross-curricular Kid K'NEX workshop incorporating whole class story-telling, working in pairs and individual tasks. Story-telling is used to introduce the theme of the workshop and to engage the children with the subject. Working in pairs/small teams, during the model building phase of the workshop, encourages problem-solving and communication skills whilst building confidence and manual skills. The workshop concludes with drawing of the models which develops art skills, encourages attention to detail and provides the pupils with a reminder of the K’NEXT Generation experience.

There are two versions of this workshop:
P1version: A cross-curricular Kid K'NEX workshop incorporating whole class discussion, team-working and individual tasks. A minibeast quiz is used to introduce the theme of the workshop, then working in teams of two or three encourages communication skills and idea development through discussion whilst building confidence, problem-solving and fine motor skills. The workshop concludes with a minibeast mini challenge.
P2-3 version: This scientific Kid K'NEX workshop begins with a class discussion introducing the subject of minibeasts, their food and their habitat. Then working in teams of two or three, pupils use minibeast characteristic cards to build a Kid K’NEX minibeast. Once built, the minibeast model is drawn and labelled. The workshop concludes with a minibeast mini challenge.
A technological Kid K'NEX workshop incorporating whole class story-telling and working in teams of three. Story-telling is used to introduce the theme of the workshop and to start thinking about road safety. Working in teams of three, during the model building phase of the workshop, encourages communication skills and idea development through discussion whilst building confidence and manual skills. The workshop concludes with everyone taking part in the remote-control Barmy Bear Buggy Challenge.
A technological Kid K'NEX workshop that begins with a brief discussion about recycling robots. Pupils then work in teams of three to design and build a Kid K'NEX recycling robots. This is followed by an opportunity for the pupils to use their robots in a remote-controlled mass robot recycling session. The workshop concludes with a discussion about why we should recycle our rubbish.
A technological Kid K'NEX workshop incorporating a class discussion, working in small groups and individual tasks. In teams of three pupils design and build a Space Bot to meet a set of design criteria. The Space Bots, once completed, are drawn and labelled to show how pupils have met the criteria. Then pupils remotely control their Space Bot to complete tasks, this helps to develop teamwork, communication skills, fine motor skills and sharing.
Following a group discussion about the types of buildings and vehicles seen in a village or town, pupils will work in teams of 3 to construct a specified building or vehicle(s) using Kid K’NEX. These K’NEX models will then be used to construct a whole-class 3D model of K’NEX Town. The session will conclude with each pupil drawing their own map/plan of K’NEX Town showing the position of all the models in the town.
