Covid-19 has affected everybody in all different ways, some good and some not so good.
I grew my hair, did PE with Joe EVERY morning and ate a lot of cake!
The pandemic also meant that K'NEXT Generation just … stopped … completely. It was a real shock when this happened and I have really missed visiting schools. However, the enforced downtime gave me a chance to review and re-invent K'NEXT Generation so that I can still provide workshops that are safe for everybody involved.
Online workshops are the obvious solution to the problem. The ‘old’ workshops requiring loads of special equipment and lots of teamwork just wouldn’t adapt easily to this new method of presentation. So, it was back to the drawing board for a completely fresh start. In doing this I didn’t want to lose the essence of what has made K'NEXT Generation workshops so popular and successful for the last 12 years.
The result is four brand new workshops that comply with government guidelines for the safe return of pupils to school. Each workshop uses individual mini kits that will be quarantined before delivery and then collected, sorted and quarantined again before delivery to a different school. A Health & Safety professional advised on the Safety Procedures for the new workshops, their quarantine and their safe delivery and collection.
The delivery and collection of kits means that initially the workshops will only be provided for Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray and Angus. The next phase is to work out how to provide workshops that don’t need specific kits so that they can be offered throughout Scotland and further afield. I have already received a request for workshops in Hong Kong - K'NEXT Generation goes Global!
All the old favourite workshops have been stored away safely, ready for the time when everything is back to normal. In the meantime, I can’t wait to see you all again (virtually) and get back to doing the job I love.
